National Public Gardens Day | Gardens at Glen Burnie
5.11 | 10am – 4pm
Celebrate National Public Gardens Day with the MSV! Lend a hand with garden maintenance by participating in the Gather in the Gardens volunteer session from 9 a.m. to noon, learn about the creation of the Museum’s Glen Burnie Gardens on a free audio tour (adult and children’s versions; available all day), bring a bag lunch to enjoy in the garden picnic area, take the kids on the “Can You Find This?” seek-and-find game through the gardens, or enjoy a 1 p.m. guided garden tour about butterflies. Led by MSV Gardens and Ground Manager Mary Stickley, this tour will highlight the role butterflies play in gardens and discuss basic butterfly facts. Presented by the American Public Gardens Association, National Public Gardens Day is a national day of celebration to raise awareness of America’s public gardens and their important role in promoting environmental stewardship and awareness, plant and water conservation, and education in communities nationwide. Garden admission, gallery admission, and audio tours are free to all throughout the day.
